trick or treat
And how was everyone’s Halloween weekend?
I went to a very fun party at a very cool coffee shop that those of you in the Twin Cities area should be very sure to check out: sip coffeebar, at 34 13th Avenue NE. It’s chic and it’s sleek and they make everything very well.
I went as William Blake from Dead Man and, predictably, no one got it. Probably because my features simply aren’t delicate enough for me to make a convincing Johnny Depp. And also because the hat and vest made everyone assume I was Charlie Chaplin. Albeit some sort of demented, facepaint-wearing Charlie Chaplin. Ah well.
But there were many impressive costumes to be seen. There was a cactus, and Mary-Kate and Ashley (from the innocent, pre-anorexia/New York Minute halcyon days), and a trio of 80s aerobics instructors, and a weapon of mass destruction (I thought he should hide behind chairs and cacti and so forth, occasionally popping out to say “Ha ha! You can’t find me!” but he didn’t comply. I guess he thought it would impede his socializing. But come on, where’s the commitment here?), and fred baby was an awesome Shaun of the Dead (you MUST see this movie), and Amy and Brent were eerily convincing as nun and priest. There were also various witches and ghouls and fairies to spookify things.
We also observed the holiday weekend by going to IHOP for pumpkin pancakes. TWICE. We also managed to snag a piece of pumpkin tart at Barbette Friday night. As these pumpkin days grow short, it’s important to make the most of them.
Speaking of which, I’m off to buy more Pumpkin Spice coffee. Mmmmm……….
Happy, happy autumn.
